St Mary’s Annual Alumnae Golf Day at Royal Worlington & Newmarket celebrates the past and the future

Our second annual St Mary’s Golf Day brought together a vibrant mix of 20 keen alumnae and members of the wider St Mary’s community for a wonderful afternoon of conversation, connection and community at the Royal Worlington and Newmarket Golf Club.

Blessed with good weather - narrowly missing the forecasted rain - spirits were high as we played five sets of competitive yet friendly foursomes across the 9-hole course. The camaraderie on the fairways was matched only by the laughter and lively conversation back at the clubhouse over tea and delicious cakes. More than just a game, the afternoon offered an opportunity to catch up, meet new people and hear the latest news from the school and fellow alumnae. All fees for the event have gone towards the Sister Christopher Memorial Bursary Fund, supporting future generations of St Mary’s students and honouring a much-loved figure in the school’s history.

The winning team was presented with a newly introduced silver cup - filled with Maltesers - by two of our most experienced alumnae golfers, adding a personal and celebratory touch to the occasion.

With such a fun and positive atmosphere throughout the day, we have already started planning next year’s event due to popular demand. There is also growing interest in forming a St Mary’s Golf Society – a wonderful way to stay connected through sport and shared values. Please look out on for exciting updates soon and if you would like to become part of this growing alumnae community, please contact Emma Hanbury at ehanbury@stmaryscambridge.co.uk
